Preserving the Legacy, Embracing the Future

Since 1964, the Goodwill Ambassadors have been a pioneering force in recognizing individuals who champion the ideals of goodwill and dedicate themselves to serving humanity. Our journey began again in 1992 with a simple yet powerful vision: to provide a platform for these exceptional individuals to connect, collaborate, and amplify their impact on the world stage we started with a BBS, then in 1999 we premiered on the Internet.

A Global Network of Changemakers

We recognize and support individuals from diverse backgrounds, united by their shared commitment to making a difference with their special designation and missions as Goodwill Ambassadors:

Formalizing the Goodwill Ambassador Title

We are committed to upholding the integrity and prestige of the Goodwill Ambassador title. Through a rigorous selection process and a comprehensive Code of Ethics, we ensure that only qualified individuals are granted this esteemed designation. Our licensing agreements further solidify the title's official status, granting members the legal right to use it in accordance with our guidelines. In recent years "Goodwill Ambassador" has become the most prestigious and recognized 'Honorable Title.'

The title "Goodwill Ambassador" over the past decade has been elevated to an official international title through a multifaceted process, including the establishment of a comprehensive Wikipedia page that details the history, significance, and selection criteria for the Goodwill Ambassador.  Furthermore, a transparent consensus planning process was undertaken with 23 divisions of the United Nations, solidifying their recognition and adoption of the title.  This collaborative effort has formalized the role of Goodwill Ambassadors in defining a secure identity  for them as licensed representatives of goodwill and humanitarian action on a global scale.

Goodwill ambassador is a post-nominal honorific title, a professional occupation and/or authoritative designation that is assigned to a person who advocates for a specific cause or global issue on the basis of their notability such as a public figure, advocate or an authoritative expert.

Goodwill Ambassador Legal Compliance

Please note that the names, titles, collective marks, trademarks, and service marks Goodwill Ambassador™ and Goodwill Ambassadors™ are protected as unregistered marks under common-law intellectual property doctrines of origin in the public domain. These include the Copyright Act (17 U.S. Code) and the Lanham Act (15 U.S. Code § 1125), which are applied for the licensed, protected, and unlicensed non-commercial activities of governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations.

Many distinct implicitly licensed and associated title holders use these marks globally. However, it's estimated that approximately 25,000 individuals are unlawfully engaged in infringing upon or misrepresenting these honorable titles and title marks. These infringements occur through false designations of origin, false descriptions, and dilution, contrary to the proper usage by national Diplomatic Corps, philanthropic organizations, and United Nations goodwill ambassadors of 13 specialized agencies.

This improper use not only undermines the integrity of the Goodwill Ambassador title but also potentially interferes with legitimate humanitarian efforts. It's crucial to recognize and respect the proper usage of these titles and marks to maintain their significance and protect the individuals and organizations they represent.
